If you're starting a reading list for your winter holiday, consider adding this book. "Women Travelers" recounts the journeys of adventurous women who defied convention and struck out with barely more than a tea kettle and a few essentials. Today we think nothing of a 20 hour flight to another hemisphere, but 100 years ago, it was an act of courage to set foot in another country, let alone search for the source of the Nile River as Alexandrine Tinné did in 1863.
